3+1= a Family of 4

Although I am currently in my 19th week I don't remember blogging about our new addition growing in my belly.


We found on April 23rd and told our parents the next day. We tried to keep it a secret until Aiden's 2nd birthday and then shared the news with the rest of the family.


On July 11th we were told we were having a boy...at least the tech was 97% sure we were having a boy. Next week I have my 20-week checkup and on August 23rd I have an u/s scheduled so hopefully we will be able to get a 99.9% guesstimate one way or the other then.

Aiden has been extremely loving to his baby brother. He gives him kisses every morning and at night. He tells me "Mommy, baby brother needs to come out so I can give him a high five." He also rolls trucks across my belly and tells me he is playing cars with baby brother.

We have 3 names on a fridge and are leaning towards one of them, but we haven't stopped discussing names yet. (Although Aiden and I secretly tell everyone the name of baby B #2 because we know what it is) Daddy isn't ready to commit to a name so we still are keeping options open... wink wink wink.

I know most of you don't really care but I am very excited to say that I have officially gained 0.5lbs so far. Which trust me is a VERY GOOD thing. I am seeing my regular OB, a specialist because of my thyroid (and weight), and a nutrionist. It seems that all appt's every month happen in the same week. Which is stressful at times and at other times I get relieved b/c I don't have to worry about going to a doc eveyr week.

I am also trying to convince Jimmy that we should change the nursery. Although he wants to and isn't against the idea he just doesn't know if he will have time to. he doesn't really like me to paint on my own...but I wonder if I get the new bedding if he will just make the time...hahaha.

Little Learners

Just dropped Aiden off at preschool for the first time without mommy. It didn't go quite as well as I hoped. Poor little guy told me "No preschool, mommy." as I unbuckled him from his carseat. I told him that it was OK that his friends would be there with him to play.
We get inside and take off his sandals and he starts crying...immediately!!!! He says "Mommy put sandals back on. No Preschool!!" We go outside so i can try to calm him down and stay calm myself. He cries and cries and holds on to me tight. I convince him to go inside and show mommy how he plays with the balls.
He does...he goes straight to the ball pit, but I couldn't leave his friends weren't there yet and I promised him they would be there to play. I should have left...I just should have gotten in the car and driven away. Of course I didn't...I linger and probably make it worse. As his friends get dropped off the report back to me "Aiden is fine." then I get "Aiden is crying." or "Oh yeah, Aiden is still crying."
I went to Target and walked around, still trying to calm myself down. Waiting for someone to text me to tell me Aiden is doing OK...but my phone is silent!!!! Finally make it home an hour after drop off and my stomach hurts, my eyes are watering and my heart is breaking. Is this the right thing for the Mr.? How long do I give it?
There is so much stress right now on making sure kids, especially boys are ready for kindergarten I really wanted him in preschool learning as soon as possible...but now I am thinking maybe I jumped the gun...maybe he isn't ready...maybe I'm not ready....Oh boy...being a parent is difficult at times

Mammoth

After we left Tahoe we decided to stop in Mammoth for a night. Grandma Barbara and Grandpa Mando joined us. We hadn't been in our room for 10 minutes before I decided I wanted to stay another night. (Thanks to the successful gambling in Tahoe)
Jimmy (our tour guide) had us pretty busy. :-) We hiked to Devils Postpile, Rainbow Falls and then to Red's Meadow the first day.





Then second day we took the gondola ride to the top of Mammoth and watched skiers, yep thats right skiing in mammoth in July, go off the side of the HUGE summit. We went swimming, flew kites and explored some local camping grounds. I can't wait to get back.

Day number 2 of Big Boy Bed

Aiden went down for his nap after a few kicks against the wall and maybe 30seconds of tears. Jimmy put Aiden down for bed by himself and says Aiden went to bed right away at 8 and slept until almost 6:30 this morning.
I am so proud of my little man!!!!!

Greg and Audrey Madrid - The Nuptials and more

Our trip to Lake Tahoe was a vacatoin treat due to the fact that Jimmy's cousin Greg decided to get married to his wife, Audrey in Lake Tahoe. We had a very good vacation because of this wonderful occasion.
On Saturday evening Greg's mom, Diana, hosted a dinner at the local pizza place. It was lots of fun and a very relaxed environment for us to enjoy the company of all the wedding guests and meet Audrey's family. Although I was a little nervous about how Aiden would do at the late hour, he surprised us and did awesome. Our little man definately showed us how flexible he can be.

The wedding took place on Sunday at the Chart house in Lake Tahoe. It was a beautiful locatoin and the wedding was very sweet. Seeing the tears in Audrey's eyes brought a warmth to my heart. The wedding was perfect and Greg and Audrey were extremely gracious.

Lake Tahoe

We drove up to Tahoe for Greg and Audrey's wedding. But the trip became so much more. It was an amazing adventure and one i can't wait to do again. The drive took about 12 hours and Aiden did AMAZING. He was awake almost the entire ride and slept for maybe 2 hours.


After we checked in we found a perfect spot for the Twister to get his wiggles out. A park on the beach. Aiden kept calling the Lake the "ocean" and after trying to correct him a million times we just let him. We enjoyed the snow capped mountains in the background of an amazingly beautiful lake and let Aiden play on the slide, monkey bars and swings.
The next day we decided to take a hike to some castle (sorry i don't remember the name.) It was the first time we were going to try out the back pack Addy let us borrow. Aiden loved it!!!! Not quite sure daddy did though. The castle was very interesting and the stories the tour guide shared were captivating. Aiden seemed to really enjoy himself as did Jimmy, me, Barbara and Mando.



Our final day in Tahoe we sent to an old mining town, Virginia City. We had a good time looking at the history and walking through the touristy little shops. But the definate highlight of the trip was seeing Aiden's excitement as he got to ride his very first real live Choo Choo Train. It was pretty cool because the diesel engine was broken and we got to see the steam engine work. They say the steam engine only comes out once or twice a year. Aiden had the hole train singing his "All Aboard" song from preschool. He was in ahh of the "Thomas the Train"

Slight Detour - Aiden's 1st Day in his Big Boy Bed

For Aiden's 2nd Birthday we did the extra room into his Big Boy room. Jimmy spent almost 6 months painting Dr. Seuss characters on the wall, my aunt, cousin and mom bought us the bedding, pillows and other decor for my birthday and Christmas. As soon as it was done we moved all Aiden's toys out of the living room into the Dr. Seuss Big Boy room. It was ready...except it was missing something very important. Aiden and his clothes!!!!
So yesterday we decided to take all of Aiden's stuff out of the nursery and move it into the big boy room. We even took down our crib and returned it to Babies R Us. (It was recalled so now we get to get a new one for the new baby). Aiden helped us take down the crib and was all excited about his new room. Well that was until we got to Babies R Us. He told Jimmy and I "Buy me a new crib." We told him that he was too big for a crib and that we had a new bed all ready for him at home. It seemed to appease him at the time. So we had lunch and got home a around 1:30. Just in time for nap time.
We knew we would hear some tears but were not prepared for what Aiden had in store for us. After 40 minutes of screaming I went into his room and told him it was time to take a nap. He said "Mommy sleep with me." So I did exactly what I didn't want to do, I laid down with him. After 15 minutes he was out like a light. But as soon as I got off the bed he said "Mommy come back." I fibbed..I said "mommy has to use the restroom I will be right back." Then I went to lay down on my bed. So next thing I know here come Aiden walking down the hall..."Mommy where are you." Supernanny kicked in at this point and I picked him up put him in bed and said "It istime to take a nap." then I walked away. For over an hour he got out of his bed and I put him back in bed without saying anything. I was annoyed, frustrated, exhausted (Jimmy worked Midnight to 8am the night before so I didn't get much sleep.) and worse of all I was begging for Jimmy to go get Aiden's crib back. After 2 hours of a no napper I cancelled nap time.
After a nap debacle we decided to go visit my parents. Stayed a little later than we probably should ahve especially since I hadn't made dinner. We got home around 7, I made dinner and we ate, gave Adien a bath and had him ready for bed about 8. We put him in bed, gave him his milk, said our little prayer and then left the room. He cried...Jimmy and I stood in the hallway holding each other back from re-entering the room for a few minutes then went to the couch and waited. Aiden cried for less than 5 mintues and went to sleep. He slept all night and woke up around 6:45am.
I am still in shock and I don't expect today to be the same but I hope he sleeps all night again!!!!!
